Our focus on teaching is on contemporary Rock and Pop music, with a taste of funk, soul, blues and the option of a little country and metal.
We start off by learning the two main guitar techniques, chords and picking, to form simple songs. We move on to learn simple riffs from Guitar Tablature to add to those songs, and build from there to go into more complex songs involving rhythm and lead playing, fingerpicking, arpeggio picking, soloing and many more guitar techniques.
We involve practical music theory every step of the way to understand how it all comes together. We also start with learning to sight-read music, and as we progress we learn about scales, more advanced music theory, improvisation and more.
If you have a particular style of music you’d like to focus on or include please let us know and we’d love to cater the lessons to your style where and when we can.
As a beginner, it is best to learn the fundamentals through simple songs to gain an understanding of song structure and guitar techniques, and we can move into focusing on your favourite style as you build on your skills.
