Kieran

I've been involved with music since I was 8 years old when I decided to take up the guitar after discovering my guitar heroes in Carlos Santana and Tommy Emmanuel. I started Essendon Guitar in 2014, and have been teaching guitar now for 11 years. I also currently manage and play in the cover band 'The Knots', performing Pop, Rock, Acoustic, Funk and Soul covers regularly across Melbourne and Central Victoria.

I completed my Certificate IV in music in 2009, and have completed AMEB Advancing Step Three in Contemporary Popular Music in Guitar with Honours. For me there's nothing much better than seeing a student find that band or song they love, and helping them to channel that inspiration into their own guitar playing!

Tim

Primarily a solo acoustic guitarist who specialises in Fingerstyle with a hint of Celtic and Flamenco, Tim’s exceedingly varied performance career has seen him playing in Jazz Bands, Big Bands, Cover Bands, Punk Bands and Orchestras (Classical and Musical). As well as a love of performing, Tim has also composed and arranged music across a wide array of styles; Some of which include guitar quartets, full orchestra with choir and reduced orchestra accompanied by DJ.

Tim has been teaching guitar for over 3 years. His teaching style takes a fun approach; based on learning your favourite songs while also incorporating good technique, rhythm and theory for a well-balanced and enjoyable learning experience.

Jeremy

Playing and performing live with both original and cover bands from the age of 15, Jeremy has developed a passion and love for the guitar and music that has shaped his life and inspired him to share the art of guitar. In live performances, guitar lessons and even in conversation, Jeremy's down to earth approach and passionate love for music shines through.

Marcus

Marcus has been playing guitar for over 10 years with a heavy passion for performing and working within a variety of musical contexts. While favouring genres that involve improvisation such as the blues and Jazz, Marcus continues to explore new styles and has a rich enthusiasm for music and its ability to connect people all around the world.

His approach to teaching involves practical methods gained from personal experience, offering plenty of enthusiasm with improvisation and learning songs, as well as establishing a positive learning environment to ensure the best result for his students and their guitar journeys!

Jon
Jon's love for music was built in high school through a passion for writing songs and playing guitar. After graduating he was drawn to studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where he completed an Advanced Diploma of Music Industry and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music, majoring in songwriting. Jon's studies saw him explore vocals, guitar, bass, piano and mixing and mastering. Along the way he's also fronted and played in multiple bands, including dream rock outfit Wooly Mammoth and psych-rockers Sprinter.
His teaching journey began in 2023 at Perth's Rock Scholars and has led him to Melbourne from Perth to study a Masters of Secondary Teaching. He enjoys teaching students of all levels and ages and loves finding ways to help students have fun, improve on the guitar and expand their knowledge of music.
